In the USA, legendary television director James Burrows, who was called the "Steven Spielberg of sitcoms," died at the age of 85. His agent announced the death of the famous TV director but did not disclose the cause of death.

Burrows made history in television as one of the most successful directors of comedy series. Over more than 50 years of his career, he worked on dozens of popular projects, including the cult series "Friends" and "The Big Bang Theory." His creative achievements were recognized with 11 Emmy Awards.

During the heyday of television sitcoms—in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s—Burrows was considered one of the most in-demand and highly paid directors in the industry. Although sitcom directors usually do not engage in scriptwriting, he actively participated in developing the storylines of the series.

Among the director's most famous works are the series "Cheers," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "The Bob Newhart Show," "Taxi," "Frasier," "Friends," and "The Big Bang Theory." Burrows was especially valued for his ability to create strong acting ensembles and maintain a special atmosphere on set.
