Pension Due to Loss of Breadwinner – The Pension Fund of Ukraine Explained Who Is Eligible for Payments
The Pension Fund of Ukraine provided clarification regarding the right to a pension due to the loss of a breadwinner for family members of persons recognized as missing under special circumstances.
The agency noted that such a pension is assigned to incapacitated family members of the person who has the corresponding status. This includes a wife who is already receiving a disability pension or has reached retirement age.
The assignment and payment are carried out in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Compulsory State Pension Insurance."
The right to a pension arises one month after the information about the person's disappearance is entered into the Unified Register of Persons Missing under Special Circumstances.
The pension is assigned for the entire period during which the person holds the status of missing under special circumstances.
At the same time, the Pension Fund emphasized that if a person is entitled to several types of pensions simultaneously (by age, disability, or due to loss of a breadwinner), only one type is assigned – at the recipient's choice, in accordance with Article 10 of the mentioned law.
Pension payments are terminated from the first day of the month following the entry in the register of a note about establishing the whereabouts of the person who was previously considered missing under special circumstances.
