On Friday, June 12, a number of holidays are celebrated in Ukraine and around the world. Several important events also took place on this day in the past.

June 12 in Ukraine is celebrated as Stock Market Workers' Day. The holiday was established by a decree of the President of Ukraine in 2008 to recognize the contribution of stock market workers to strengthening the national economy, attracting investments, and developing the country's modern financial system. Stock market workers include brokers, traders, analysts, investment consultants, asset managers, employees of exchanges, depository institutions, investment funds, and regulatory bodies.

June 12 is also International Dubbing Day. Dubbing appeared in the early 1930s with the development of sound cinema. It became especially popular in France, Italy, Spain, and Germany, where foreign films began to be voiced in national languages. Later, this practice spread worldwide and became an integral part of the film industry.

June 12 is celebrated as International Cachaça Day. Cachaça is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fresh sugarcane juice, not molasses like rum. This feature gives it a characteristic fresh, grassy-fruity taste. According to Brazilian law, the name "cachaça" can only be used for a drink produced within the country.

What Church Holiday Is Today

On June 12, believers commemorate the Memory Day of Saints Venerable Onuphrius the Great and Peter of Athos. Saint Venerable Onuphrius the Great was one of the most famous desert monks of the 4th century. He left the monastery and lived in solitude in the Egyptian desert for over 60 years, dedicating his life to continuous prayer, fasting, and service to God. According to church tradition, the Lord miraculously sustained him: an angel brought Holy Communion, and near the cave grew a date palm and a spring flowed. His life became a symbol of spiritual resilience and complete trust in God's providence.
