Methodological Recommendations Published on Ensuring Inclusivity for Veterans During the Administration of Justice
On May 22, the Council of Judges of Ukraine approved Methodological Recommendations on ensuring barrier-free access, inclusivity, and proper legal assistance to veterans during the administration of justice.
These Methodological Recommendations are aimed at forming unified approaches to organizing the judicial process that comply with the rule of law principle, accessibility of justice, barrier-free access, and inclusivity, taking into account the special experience of war veterans and serve as a practical tool for judges and court staff.
As stated in the document, the Recommendations do not establish, in particular, a special procedural status for war veterans, do not change the rules of legal proceedings, and do not grant advantages to any party in the judicial process. Their application is exclusively aimed at ensuring real and effective access to justice for veterans, considering their special experience.
By the decision of the Council of Judges of Ukraine No. 13 dated May 22, 2026, in addition to the Methodological Recommendations on ensuring barrier-free access, inclusivity, and proper legal assistance to veterans during the administration of justice, Methodological Recommendations on ethical communication with veterans who are court staff, as well as a Memo for court staff on communication with veterans, were also approved.
