In Kyiv, there is a call to make free public transport rides available to students who study online, regardless of the legal address of their educational institution.

A relevant petition has been registered on the Kyiv City Council website. Its author proposes to review the current decision of the Kyiv City State Administration, which currently limits the right to free travel for some children living in the capital but receiving education remotely in schools registered outside Kyiv.

The appeal emphasizes that the current rules were adopted before the full-scale war began and do not take into account modern realities. In particular, it concerns the need for children to travel for free to shelters, resilience points, or extracurricular education institutions during air raid alerts or power outages.

The author of petition No. 14258 notes that Kyiv families who pay taxes to the city budget should receive equal transport benefits for their children regardless of where the school is legally registered. This issue is considered especially relevant against the backdrop of rising transport costs in the capital.

As is known, in Kyiv from July 15, 2026, the cost of travel in municipal public transport is planned to increase — the price of a single trip will be 30 hryvnias.

Kyiv residents were explained that the new tariff was formed taking into account the expenses of transport enterprises on electricity, fuel, rolling stock repair, and ensuring an adequate level of wages for industry workers.
