The Donetsk Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support explained how families of those killed in captivity (or who died after it) can apply for 100,000 hryvnias assistance.

Who can apply for the payment?

The right to receive assistance is granted to:

 Family members of the deceased;

 Parents;

 Dependents.

"If you are entitled to this assistance and at the same time to another one-time monetary payment in case of death according to other Ukrainian laws — the payment is made on one of the grounds chosen by the applicant," the Territorial Center emphasized.

When is the assistance paid?

The state pays funds if the death or killing of a civilian or military person occurred:

1 Directly while in captivity.

2 Within one year after release from captivity — if the cause was wounds, concussion, disability, illness, or accident directly related to the stay in places of detention.

What documents need to be collected?

Save this list so you don't miss anything:

1 Application — completed and signed (template available on the Ministry of Development website).

2 Document proving the applicant's identity.

3 Document confirming family ties with the deceased (marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.).

4 Copy of the death certificate or a copy of the extract from the State Register of Civil Status Acts of Citizens about the state registration of death.

5 Copy of the medical certificate (form No. 106/o), established by the Ministry of Health — it must officially confirm that the death occurred due to causes related to the stay in captivity.

6 Certificate with bank account details for crediting the funds.

Where and how to submit the application?

Documents are accepted by the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine. The person can choose one of 3 methods:

Online: directly on the official website of the Ministry of Development.

By mail (paper package): to the address 01135, Kyiv, Beresteiskyi Avenue, building 14.

By email: send scanned copies to [email protected].
