In Zaporizhzhia, a police major was detained on suspicion of attempting to rape a 14-year-old girl
The Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office reported the detention and suspicion announcement of a police officer who committed a completed attempt to rape a 14-year-old resident of Zaporizhzhia. The suspicion was announced under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 3 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
As indicated by the prosecutor's office, it was established that on May 26 around two o'clock in the morning in one of the city's residential areas, a senior operative officer of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zaporizhzhia Region, a police major, committed sexual acts against a minor child without her consent.
Law enforcement officers detained the man at the scene.
The incident was reported to the 102 hotline by a concerned resident of a nearby building. The complainant heard the victim's screams.
A motion has been submitted to the court to impose a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of detention without the right to bail.
Initial investigative actions are ongoing. All circumstances of the incident are being established.
The case is being handled by investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation.
