Reequipping a car to meet the individual needs of a driver requires consultations with specialists and the selection of technical solutions that ensure safety and convenience of driving, explain the Service Centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Kirovohrad Regions.

Vehicle reequipment is an individual process, so before installing any equipment, it is recommended to consult with a rehabilitation specialist and experts from the company performing such work. This allows taking into account the person's physical capabilities, the specifics of prosthetic use, and choosing the safest and most comfortable solutions.

For drivers using lower limb prosthetics, the following options may be applied:

  • cars with automatic transmissions;
  • pedal overlays or extenders;
  • installation of a left gas pedal for drivers with limited function of the right leg.

For people with absent or non-functional lower limbs, other technical solutions are provided:

  • manual control systems "gas-brake";
  • joysticks and ring accelerators;
  • steering devices like "spinner" for one-hand control;
  • pedal blockers to enhance safety while driving.

Barrier-free transport is considered as an opportunity for a person to remain mobile, independent, and safely drive a car taking into account their needs.
