In Dnipro, students recreated the constitutional process in the format of a real court
At the National Technical University "Dnipro Polytechnic," an educational event was held in the format of a training model of an open plenary session of the Grand Chamber of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. The event took place within the framework of the scientific-practical HUB "Rule of Law" and was dedicated to the topic "Constitutional control and the limits of law enforcement."
The university auditorium was conditionally transformed into a courtroom, where instead of a regular lecture, students engaged in legal discussions, analyzed complex constitutional issues, and had the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
Representatives of the judicial system, the scientific community, and international institutions participated in the event. Welcoming remarks were made by the rector of NTU "Dnipro Polytechnic" Oleksandr Azyukovskyi, head of the Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Viktor Beschastnyi, judge of the CCU Halyna Yurovska, head of the Third Administrative Court of Appeal Anatolii Korshun, and head of the Dnipropetrovsk District Administrative Court Volodymyr Horbalinskyi.
The judicial panel, formed jointly with university representatives, included representatives of the Dnipropetrovsk District Administrative Court: deputy head of the court Andrii Korenev, judge-spokesperson Vasyl Ilkov, and judge Anna Slastion.
Among the guests were also senior advisor on prosecution matters of the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine (EUAM) Henri Telkki (Finland), assistant to the rector of DDUVS, honored lawyer of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, professor Larysa Nalyvaiko, head of the department for representing the state's interests in court of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office Anzhelika Barchuk, lawyer, deputy head of the qualification chamber of the qualification-disciplinary commission of advocacy of the Dnipropetrovsk region Nataliia Lysenko, as well as scholars and lecturers of the Department of Public Law at NTU "Dnipro Polytechnic."
The main participants of the model session were first- and second-year university students.
The practical part of the event was conducted in a format as close as possible to a real plenary session of the Grand Chamber of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. Students worked with the regulatory framework, analyzed decisions of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, formulated legal positions, and participated in professional discussions. For many, this was the first experience where theory from textbooks came to life in the format of a real court process.
The basis for the modeling was one of the most famous cases in modern Ukrainian constitutional law. During the discussion, participants raised issues of judicial independence, limits of state control, the principle of separation of powers, and legal certainty.
After the event, representatives of the judiciary emphasized the importance of such initiatives for shaping future lawyers.
