The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced that on June 1 he held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters, during which decisions regarding the funding of combat brigades were discussed.

“First – direct funding for combat brigades to purchase necessary equipment, primarily drones. Second – a fairer distribution of personnel to replenish combat brigades. Third – expanding the capabilities of our brigades to conduct basic combined arms training. Direct funding has added real combat capabilities to the brigades. Regarding personnel, about 160 military units already receive stable guaranteed replenishment, which allows for more confident defense of positions. The number of military units authorized to conduct basic combined arms training has also doubled. I instructed to work out possible additional steps on each of these points on how else we can support the brigades,” he said.

The head of state emphasized that during the Headquarters meeting, the issue of supplying long-range 155mm shells was also discussed – something the troops have often requested.

“I instructed to develop more opportunities for funding, production, and supply of such shells and overall support of our artillery capabilities, which remain critically important for achieving combat results. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is also working on supplying pickups to the troops – decisions are already being implemented,” Zelenskyy stated.

The President added that today there was also a report from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, on the situation in key directions. The head of state emphasized that Ukrainian positions are strong, and this is a very necessary result for our country.

“This will definitely support all diplomatic efforts. Much attention was also paid today to air defense. This is, absolutely understandably, a key priority for protecting our cities and communities. I expect much more activity from our diplomats to strengthen air defense and supply the necessary missiles. I also instructed the Ministry of Defense to activate all existing formats with partners for the supply of anti-ballistic systems. We must find what Ukraine needs. Glory to Ukraine!” he added.
