Veterans can undergo treatment and rehabilitation abroad – how the referral procedure works
War veterans and servicemen who need complex treatment or rehabilitation can be referred for free treatment abroad. This was reported by the Sumy Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.
The procedure is organized through a designated state mechanism. The initiator of the referral is the healthcare institution where the patient is located.
Next, the Medical Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine forwards the necessary package of documents to the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry of Health, in turn, through diplomatic channels, agrees on the possibility of admitting the patient to a foreign medical institution on a free basis.
After receiving confirmation, the necessary documents are processed and the patient's transportation is organized.
For detailed information, veterans are advised to contact their doctor or directly the medical institution where they are receiving treatment.
The Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support emphasizes that Ukrainian veterans have the right to medical assistance and rehabilitation both in Ukraine and abroad, depending on medical indications.
