The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine held a working meeting to implement the Roadmap on the Rule of Law, specifically the reform of the National School of Judges of Ukraine.

The key topic was the implementation of recommendations from the European Union's TAIEX mission regarding the improvement of the legal status of the National School of Judges. Issues discussed included the direction of institutional development of relevant European institutions, competitive filling of vacant positions, and the extension of anti-corruption legislation requirements to the leadership of the NSJU.

The Head of the HQCJ, Andriy Pasichnyk, emphasized the importance of coordinated implementation of the recommendations with the involvement of all interested parties.

During the discussion, participants developed approaches to implementing the TAIEX recommendations and outlined possible changes to the Charter of the National School of Judges of Ukraine and legislation. This concerns, in particular, strengthening the judge training system and developing the institution's teaching staff.

The Roadmap on the Rule of Law is a comprehensive strategic document defining a set of reforms within the negotiation process for Ukraine's EU membership under Negotiation Chapter 23 "Judiciary and Fundamental Rights" and Chapter 24 "Justice, Freedom and Security." This document is one of the key prerequisites for opening official negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU within Cluster 1 "Foundations of the EU Accession Process," which opens first and closes last. Its development and implementation demonstrate Ukraine's readiness to meet EU standards, strengthen the trust of member states, and enhance Ukraine's status as a reliable partner.
