Why Some Military Personnel Will Receive 300 Thousand Hryvnias, While Others — 30 Thousand: Explanation from the Ministry of Defense
As the "Judicial and Legal Newspaper" has already reported, the Defense Forces are being transformed in Ukraine. For the first time in the Ukrainian military, the principle appears: the more you risk, the more you receive. This applies both to salaries and deferments.
At the same time, the Ministry of Defense clarified why the basic monetary allowance was not significantly increased for all categories of servicemen, while additional payments increased unevenly.
As the department notes, the current changes are the first stage of the Defense Forces transformation, whose main priority is to increase payments for frontline military personnel and adjust the basic allowance for rear units.
According to the new model, payments primarily increase for those performing tasks with a higher level of risk. This concerns servicemen on the front line, where the average level of monetary allowance can reach about 300 thousand UAH.
At the same time, the basic monetary allowance for military personnel in the rear has been increased from 20 to 30 thousand UAH — due to an additional allowance of 10 thousand UAH.
The Ministry of Defense also noted that the financing of the first stage of the reform is ensured by reallocating existing resources.
The resolutions were adopted on June 12, so they are currently awaiting signature and publication.
Recall that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, announced details of the new military service contract system, which will provide a guaranteed deferment after the contract ends. Its duration will depend on the type of contract, previous length of service, and the serviceman's participation in combat operations.
Also, the Ministry of Defense revealed details of the new monetary allowance system for servicemen and the introduction of three types of contracts.
Thus, the average level of monetary allowance for infantrymen under the new model will be about 300 thousand UAH per month, with maximum payments up to 460 thousand UAH.
Additional payments are also provided for participation in combat missions: 10 thousand UAH for each day spent on positions and 40 thousand UAH for an "assault day." These payments will apply to both mobilized personnel and contract servicemen.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Defense responded on how servicemen who have served since 2014 and 2022 will be discharged.
