Pensioners May Be Underpaid: How to Check All Allowances and Supplements from the Pension Fund of Ukraine
Many Ukrainian pensioners may be entitled to additional pension payments but do not always know whether the Pension Fund has taken them into account during the calculation. To avoid losing legally due funds, it is worth periodically checking your pension case and making sure that all supplements and allowances are assigned correctly.
The easiest way to do this is through the Pension Fund’s electronic services web portal. To check, you need to:
- log in to your personal account on the PFU portal;
- open the "My Pension" section;
- review information about the pension amount and all its components.
In this section, you can see:
- the basic pension amount;
- established allowances;
- supplements and increases;
- indexation results;
- other payments included in the pension provision.
Those who prefer personal visits can go to a PFU service center and obtain an extract from the decision on pension assignment or recalculation. The document lists all payment components, allowing verification of the calculation’s accuracy.
If it is not possible to use the internet or personally visit a PFU office, you can send a written request by mail. In the request, ask for a detailed pension calculation and information about all considered allowances and supplements.
After receiving information about your pension case, carefully check whether all payments you are entitled to have been included. If a certain allowance is missing, you should submit an application to the Pension Fund along with documents confirming your right to receive it.
At the same time, it is important to remember: if a pensioner is entitled to several types of increases on different grounds, in most cases only one of them is paid — either chosen by the pensioner or the most beneficial one.
Experts emphasize that some supplements are not assigned automatically. Therefore, regular checking of your pension case will help timely detect possible underpayments and receive all funds provided by law.
