The fourth section of the Provincial Court of Valencia sentenced footballer Rafa Mir to 8.5 years in prison. The court found him guilty of sexual violence and causing bodily harm. This was reported on June 15 by the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV).

The criminal proceedings also involved a second defendant — a footballer and friend of Mir. The Valencia court sentenced him to 2 years in prison, finding him guilty of sexual violence, crimes against moral integrity, and minor bodily injuries.

The court decision, officially communicated to the parties on Monday, is not final. The defense of the convicted has the right to appeal it in higher courts.

The decision also establishes civil liability in the form of compensation. The court ordered a payment of 64,000 euros to the victim in Rafa Mir's case. The second convicted person must pay 6,280 euros to another complainant.
