The first cluster of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU has been opened: which areas it covers
All European Union countries have agreed to open the first negotiation cluster on the accession of Ukraine and Moldova. This is stated in the official EU statement.
The cluster covers the areas of justice, freedom, and fundamental human rights.
The EU noted that this decision was made due to the progress of Ukraine and Moldova and called the enlargement a strategic step for Europe's future.
"Today we begin negotiations on the foundation of the accession process, namely justice, freedom, and fundamental rights. We have seen the persistent work of these countries and reward it with a clear path forward," the EU said.
