Pension for Special Merits: Who Can Receive an Allowance Over 1000 Hryvnias
Some Ukrainian pensioners can count on an additional monthly payment that in 2026 exceeds 1000 hryvnias. Such an allowance is granted within the framework of a pension for special merits to Ukraine or for the need for constant care.
Who is eligible for the allowance for special merits
Women who have given birth to and raised five or more children until they reach six years of age have the right to additional payments.
If the mother has died or was deprived of parental rights, the father can apply for such an allowance, provided that he was the one who raised the children. Adopted children are also taken into account when determining the right to the allowance.
What is the amount of the allowance
The allowance is paid together with the main pension — by age, disability, length of service, or in connection with the loss of a breadwinner.
The amount of the allowance ranges from 35% to 40% of the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost their ability to work. In 2026, parents of many children can receive an additional 908 to 1038 hryvnias monthly depending on the grounds for granting the payment.
Who else can receive over 1000 hryvnias monthly
A separate allowance is provided for pensioners aged 80 and over who require constant external care.
To be granted this allowance, it is necessary to:
- receive an age pension;
- live independently;
- have a conclusion from the medical advisory commission about the need for constant care.
The amount of this allowance equals 40% of the subsistence minimum for persons unable to work. In 2026, this amounts to 1038 hryvnias per month.
To apply for the payment, you need to contact the Pension Fund service center with an application, passport, residence documents, and a medical conclusion confirming the need for external care.
