The Ministry of Defense has identified the units to which one can return after AWOL, 27 of them are in the Land Forces.

The algorithm will operate for 100 days (from June 13 to September 20, 2026, inclusive). During this period, a serviceman has the opportunity to choose the unit and even the position where he wants to be reinstated. This right is granted to servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, and the National Guard of Ukraine who have recorded AWOL before June 12, 2026.

The Land Forces emphasized that the return occurs exclusively within their own structure. That is, from the Armed Forces of Ukraine — only to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, from the National Guard — to the National Guard, from the State Special Transport Service — to the State Special Transport Service.

From the full list, the following Land Forces units are available:

  • 1st Separate Assault Regiment named after Dmytro Kotsyubailo
  • 3rd Separate Assault Brigade
  • 5th Separate Assault Kyiv Brigade
  • 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great
  • 17th Separate Heavy Mechanized Kryvyi Rih Brigade named after Kostyantyn Pestushko
  • 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign
  • 31st Separate Mechanized Brigade named after General Khorunzhyy Leonid Stupnytskyi
  • 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hero of Ukraine Valerii Hudzia
  • 43rd Separate Mechanized Brigade
  • 44th Separate Mechanized Brigade
  • 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Volodymyr Monomakh

Return can be done in three ways: through the Army+ app, directly through the unit, and through the Armed Forces of Ukraine recruiting center.
