How to Get Your First ID Passport — Explanation from the Migration Service
The Migration Service of Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions explained how to obtain your first passport of a citizen of Ukraine (ID card).
The first ID card is free
Citizens of Ukraine who have reached the age of 14 receive their first internal passport in the form of an ID card free of charge. No state duty or administrative fee is charged for this service.
Documents can be submitted at any territorial subdivision of the State Migration Service of Ukraine at the place of application, regardless of where the child is registered.
"When applying for the first passport and a foreign passport simultaneously – you only pay for the foreign passport.
Teenagers from 14 years old have the right to independently (without the mandatory presence of parents or guardians) apply to the migration service for simultaneous issuance of internal and foreign passports," emphasized the Migration Service.
Since the ID card is issued for the first time free of charge, the person only pays for the production of the foreign passport. The cost of issuing a foreign passport depends on the processing time:
- 1147 hryvnias – in the regular mode (20 working days);
- 1787 hryvnias – in the expedited mode (7 working days).
Due to the legal regime of martial law and constant enemy air raids, the production of passport documents may be delayed.
