Apostille from the State Tax Service – which documents can be legalized and how much it costs
The State Tax Service is authorized to affix an apostille on official documents that fall within its competence and are issued by the Service or its territorial bodies. This was reported by the STS.
To receive the service, the applicant must submit the original document or its copy certified in the prescribed manner, on which the apostille is to be affixed, an application from the person submitting the documents, as well as a payment document for the service or a document or its certified copy confirming the right to exemption from payment.
The fee for affixing an apostille is three non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens, which currently equals 51 hryvnias.
The STS also reminded about the grounds on which the apostille may be refused. In particular, these include non-compliance of the document form with the established sample or the absence of mandatory details, improper appearance of the document (if the text is damaged, written in pencil, received by fax, or contains corrections or additions), as well as cases when the document does not fall within the STS's authority to affix an apostille.
Applicants may also be refused in case of technical impossibility to verify signature or seal samples, as well as if there are doubts about the authenticity of the document, signatures or seals, or its compliance with the requirements for design and issuance.
It is separately noted that an apostille is not affixed on a number of documents. In particular, these are originals and copies of normative legal acts, explanations and legal conclusions regarding their application, as well as documents of an official correspondence nature.
