Hackers Developed a Copy of Reserv+, Where Men Added Their Own Deferrals
Cyber specialists from the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Cyber Police Department of the National Police, conducted a large-scale special operation in Kyiv, Rivne, and Cherkasy, as a result of which they dismantled a hacker group that created a fake version of the mobile app "Reserv+".
According to the SBU, the fake app externally fully imitated the official service of the Ministry of Defense. The scheme organizers charged a fee of 1,200 hryvnias per month for access to it.
The investigation established that through the fake app, users could independently change their account data and enter information about having a deferral. Subsequently, conscripts used the electronic documents generated in the fake service during inspections by employees of territorial recruitment centers and the National Police.
According to the investigation, more than 4,000 people authorized in the fake app.
Currently, the fake app has been blocked.
Two detainees have already been notified of suspicion according to the crimes committed under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 1 of Article 114-1 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period);
- Part 3 of Article 358 (forgery of documents, seals, stamps, and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy).
Pre-trial investigation is ongoing to identify and bring to justice all participants of the criminal scheme.
