The Cabinet of Ministers approved a mechanism for providing urgent reparations to individuals who suffered from sexual violence related to Russian aggression against Ukraine. This was announced by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.

According to the adopted decision, victims will be able to receive a one-time payment of 3,000 euros. The right to such support will also apply to children born as a result of sexual violence related to the war. The program will be funded by contributions from international partners and donors.

As emphasized by Yuliia Svyrydenko, receiving this payment will not affect a person's right to receive housing subsidies or other types of state social assistance.

A special commission will be established under the Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity to review applications. It is expected that the application review procedure will ensure confidentiality, respect for human dignity, and minimize the risks of retraumatization of victims.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 398 cases of sexual violence related to the war have been recorded in Ukraine. Among the victims are 248 women and 150 men. At the same time, human rights activists note that the actual number of such crimes may be significantly higher, as many victims do not report their experiences due to fear of judgment and social stigma.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Russia uses sexual violence as one of the tools of war against Ukrainians, and such actions constitute serious war crimes.

"The state will do everything possible to hold Russia accountable, and citizens who suffered from these crimes will receive full reparations," said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
