Operations with Robots and Training of Doctors: A New Medical Center Will Be Created in Ukraine
Ukraine plans to create the first scientific and practical Center for Robot-Assisted Surgery. A corresponding memorandum of cooperation was signed by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Health, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the P. L. Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of robotic surgical systems.
Despite the active development of robotic surgery worldwide, access to such technologies in Ukraine remains limited. Currently, the country has an insufficient number of robotic systems and lacks a national center for comprehensive specialist training.
The new center is intended to become a platform that combines several directions:
- Patient treatment;
- training and education of doctors;
- conducting scientific research;
- development of international cooperation.
A separate direction will be the creation of a specialized department based at the P. L. Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine. It is planned to carry out training, retraining, and advanced training of medical workers who will work with robotic technologies there.
The project is expected to develop in stages. In the near future, the launch of educational programs involving university specialists, team preparation, and the start of clinical work are planned. The next stage will be the expansion of clinical directions, and in the future — the creation of a national training center that will prepare specialists for medical institutions from all regions of Ukraine.
