In the capital, an associate professor of one of the universities was notified of suspicion, suspected of abuse of influence. According to the investigation, she promised to organize admission to a college affiliated with the university to obtain a deferment from mobilization and covertly referred to the bribe as “10 kilograms of currants.”

According to the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect, who works as a university lecturer, promised for money to arrange the admission of a man to the college affiliated with the educational institution.

According to her, the applicant was supposed to fictitiously study in the specialty “technology manager,” which would give him the opportunity to receive a deferment from mobilization for three years — the duration of the studies.

For such a service, the woman demanded 10 thousand dollars. According to law enforcement, this amount also included assistance with passing all exam sessions.

Separately, according to the suspect, it was necessary to pay the official tuition fee — 35 thousand hryvnias per year.

During a personal meeting, the lecturer explained the procedure for processing documents and, as law enforcement notes, covertly referred to the bribe as “10 kilograms of currants.”

The woman was detained immediately after receiving the bribe.

The associate professor was notified of suspicion under part 3 of article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — abuse of influence. Currently, the suspect is under 24-hour house arrest. The article’s sanction provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with confiscation of property.
