In the Podilskyi district of Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a man suspected of intentionally damaging a psychologist’s car. According to the investigation, the suspect is a former patient of the victim and was dissatisfied with his work.

It was preliminarily established that an unknown man broke the glass of a BMW X5 with a hammer, then threw a plastic bottle with a flammable mixture into the car interior. As a result of the fire, the vehicle sustained significant damage.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers found out that the car was used by a Kyiv resident who works as a psychologist in one of the public organizations.

It took law enforcement less than half an hour to identify the person involved in the arson. Soon after, they detained a 34-year-old Kyiv resident who was previously a patient of the victim and, according to preliminary data, had complaints about his work.

Investigators detained the man under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Under the procedural guidance of the Podilskyi District Prosecutor’s Office, he was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional destruction or damage to property.

The article’s sanction provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 10 years.

The prosecutor’s office added that the suspect is registered with a psychiatrist and, according to him, the psychologist "turns patients into zombies," so he carried out what he called a "people’s trial."

The court imposed a preventive measure on the man in the form of round-the-clock house arrest.
