The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine allocated over UAH 83.6 million for organizing free hot meals for students in frontline communities in the 2026/2027 academic year.

Funding will be directed to 1,786 communal general secondary education institutions in eight regions: Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv.

A separate financing mechanism is provided for these regions in cooperation with the United Nations World Food Programme. The state provides UAH 35 for feeding one primary school student, and an additional UAH 15 is contributed by the international partner.

The Ministry notes that this model allows maintaining free hot meals for children in communities that are under constant security risks.

As previously reported by the "Judicial and Legal Newspaper", the Cabinet of Ministers decided to finance the modernization of vocational and professional pre-higher education institutions, create modern educational spaces in lyceums, and support free meals for primary school students. This was announced by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi.

According to him, the government allocated over UAH 860 million for the implementation of more than 100 projects in the regions. The funds will be used to equip new workshops and laboratories, update equipment, and improve energy efficiency, safety, and accessibility of vocational and professional pre-higher education institutions.
