Workers in Kyiv are owed over half a billion hryvnias: which sectors have the worst situation
The amount of unpaid wages in Kyiv continues to remain significant. As of early July, employers owed workers over 513.8 million UAH, with almost half of this amount attributed to just one sector.
New statistical data indicate that the biggest problems with salary payments are concentrated in professional, scientific, and technical activities, while industry ranks second in terms of debt volume.
Total amount of wage arrears
According to new statistical data, as of July 1, 2026, the total amount of wage arrears in Kyiv amounted to 513.8 million UAH (513,800.9 thousand UAH).
The largest portion of the total debt was formed by enterprises operating in professional, scientific, and technical activities, as well as in industry.
Which sectors have the largest debts
The largest volume of arrears was recorded in the following types of economic activity:
- professional, scientific, and technical activities — 250.9 million UAH, or 48.8% of all arrears;
- industry — 153.6 million UAH, or 29.9%;
- transport, warehousing, postal and courier activities — 50.6 million UAH, or 9.9%;
- construction — 17.1 million UAH, or 3.3%;
- real estate operations — 13.8 million UAH, or 2.7%.
All other types of economic activity account for another 5.4% of the total amount of arrears.
Almost 80% of all debts are concentrated in two sectors
Statistical data show that the main volume of unpaid wages falls on only two sectors. Together, professional, scientific, and technical activities and industry accumulate 78.7% of all wage arrears in the capital.
At the same time, the transport sector accounts for almost a tenth of the debt, while the shares of construction, real estate operations, and other types of economic activity are significantly smaller.
