Assassination attempt on Ihor Obolenskyi: 69-year-old attacker fired two shots — attack details
As previously reported by the Judicial and Legal Newspaper, there was an assassination attempt on the commander of the 13th NGU Brigade "Khartia", Ihor Obolenskyi.
According to the police, the suspect is a 69-year-old resident of Kharkiv. The investigation established that he was recruited by representatives of Russian special services who operated "under a false flag," pretending to be employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
"To deceive the man, the handler provided him with false information about the alleged cooperation of a Ukrainian serviceman with the enemy. As 'evidence,' the suspect was sent an AI-generated image showing the commander of the 'Khartia' corps supposedly on Red Square in Moscow wearing a T-shirt with the 'Z' symbol," the agency stated.
Subsequently, to commit the crime, the suspect was given a firearm through a courier. Law enforcement officers are currently identifying the courier and checking for possible involvement of other persons in organizing the crime.
The man has been detained. He is being prepared for notification of suspicion.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement agencies are carrying out a range of measures to establish all circumstances of the crime and bring all those involved to justice.
