Putin refused negotiations in Europe regarding Ukraine
The head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, rejected the idea of involving European leaders in negotiations to end the war in Ukraine and stated that he is relying on an alleged peace agreement reached with US President Donald Trump in Alaska. This was reported by Bloomberg.
According to the publication, citing unnamed officials, the possibility of European countries participating in the negotiation process was discussed by representatives of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. They also coordinated their approaches with the Ukrainian side.
At the same time, Putin insisted that he allegedly reached a compromise agreement with Trump during a meeting in Anchorage. He also stated that Europe's role in ending the war should not be in supplying arms to Ukraine, but in attempts to convince Kyiv to agree to the compromises Moscow talks about.
The Russian president also publicly rejected the possibility that EU countries could act as mediators in the negotiations. During a meeting with foreign media in St. Petersburg, he said that European countries cannot be neutral.
Recall that on June 4, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote an open letter to Putin, in which he proposed to meet and "end the war."
The US President Donald Trump stated that "it would be great if they met."
