Parliamentary Elections of the IX Convocation Have Started in Armenia
On Sunday morning, June 7, voting began in Armenia for the regular elections to the National Assembly of the IX convocation. This was reported by the publication "News-Armenia".
At 08:00 AM local time, 2005 polling stations opened across the entire territory of Armenia.
According to the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia, there are 2,505,102 voters registered in the electoral roll. At the same time, Armenian citizens abroad do not have the right to vote, except for certain categories — employees of diplomatic missions, military personnel on long-term assignments or studying abroad, as well as their family members.
There are 18 political forces participating in the elections — 2 blocs and 16 parties, including:
Reformist Party; Democratic Party "I am Against All"; "Strong Armenia" Bloc; Meritocratic Party of Armenia; Reformist Party "New Force"; "Wings of Unity" Party; "Prosperous Armenia" Party; All-Armenian Party "National Democratic Pole"; "Kochari – National Revival and Awakening of the Nation" Party; "Armenian National Congress" Party; "Republic" Party; Christian Democratic Party; "Democratic Union" Party; "Democracy, Law, Order" Party; "Civil Contract" Party; "Armenia" Bloc of Parties; "For the Republic – Defenders of Democracy" Party; "Bright Armenia" Party.
From 08:00 AM, the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia launched an information center for prompt updates on the voting process.
At 09:00 AM, the CEC will publish the first data regarding the election process. From 12:00 to 9:00 PM, information about turnout and voting progress will be published every three hours.
Throughout the day, the election process will be monitored by the CEC, the General Prosecutor's Office, the police, the Investigative Committee, and the Ombudsman's office, which will respond to reports of possible violations. Election day is also a working day for the country's courts.
Several international missions have been accredited to observe the elections, including ODIHR/OSCE, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, PACE, European Parliament, CIS IPA, CIS observer mission, and the International Organization of La Francophonie.
Voting will continue until 8:00 PM on June 7. After the polling stations close, election commissions will begin counting the votes.
From 00:00 on June 8, the Central Electoral Commission will start publishing preliminary results by polling stations.
Preliminary election results are planned to be announced by 8:00 PM on June 8 live on Armenian public television and radio.
