In the village of Lutoryż near the Polish city of Rzeszów, remains of 32 unborn children were found on a plot of land that previously belonged to a pathologist doctor. This was reported by Gazeta Wyborcza.

Law enforcement was informed about the discovery after workers came across human remains during construction work. Following this, the work was stopped and investigators arrived at the site.

The prosecutor's office stated that 32 fetuses were found buried at varying depths on the territory. Medical materials and fragments of destroyed documentation were also found. All discovered remains were sent for forensic medical examination to determine how long they had been in the ground.

As part of the investigation, a 57-year-old pathologist doctor was detained. She was scheduled to be questioned on Saturday, but before that, she complained of worsening health and was hospitalized. Later, the woman was brought to the prosecutor's office for investigative actions.

According to the investigation, the detainee claims that during the COVID-19 pandemic she took dead fetuses from the hospital for medical research. She asserts that after the research was completed, the remains were buried on the plot of land that was owned by her at that time.

The doctor is expected to be charged with desecration of human remains and improper handling of medical materials. At the same time, the prosecutor's office emphasizes that the investigation is at an early stage and all circumstances of the case are still being established.

Law enforcement continues to examine the territory and is checking neighboring plots to determine if there are other possible burials or medical materials.
