In Poland, a 16-year-old boy survived after being bitten by one of the world's most dangerous snakes
In Poland, a 16-year-old boy survived after being bitten by a venomous Levant viper. After the incident, the teenager was in critical condition, but doctors managed to save his life thanks to the use of a special antivenom. This was reported by TVP World.
The incident occurred last week. According to available information, the viper bit the boy when he was trying to give it water.
After the bite, the teenager was hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Since the necessary antivenom was not available in Poland, a special team was sent to Munich, Germany, to obtain it.
The day before, the medical facility reported the successful use of the medication.
"Today we can say with relief and satisfaction: the fight for the antivenom was worth it. The boy is alive," the hospital statement said.
The Levant viper is one of the most dangerous snake species in its range. Its venom is several times stronger than that of the European viper. This species is found in Southern Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
In Poland, keeping the Levant viper is prohibited by law because its bites often lead to fatal consequences.
