Polish President Karol Nawrocki Stripped Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle
Polish President Karol Nawrocki has decided to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle. This was reported by the office of the Polish president.
"There are limits in Polish-Ukrainian relations that must not be crossed," Nawrocki said, explaining his decision.
This is the highest state award of Poland and one of the oldest orders in the world. Former President Andrzej Duda awarded Volodymyr Zelenskyy the order on April 5, 2023, for merits in strengthening Polish-Ukrainian relations and cooperation between the countries.
It is known that earlier there was a scandal in Poland regarding the Order of the White Eagle awarded to the Ukrainian president.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that Polish-Ukrainian relations have worsened due to naming a Ukrainian military unit after Ukrainian Insurgent Army heroes and called on the presidents of Ukraine and Poland, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Karol Nawrocki, to have an open conversation.
