In the USA, a dismissed public servant who continued to have access to a sensitive criminal database even after termination now faces over 100 criminal charges for serious crimes. She faces more than 560 years in prison, reports Clickorlando.

32-year-old Crystal Lawson, a former juvenile probation officer in Orange County (Florida, USA), was arrested this week after an investigation suspected her of using the state court system to inform members of a drug trafficking group about arrest warrants and other law enforcement actions.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Lawson was employed by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice in February 2022 and gained access to the state CCIS (Comprehensive Case Information System). Later that year, she was fired following an arrest in a battery case, but her access to the database was not blocked.

The investigation claims that from January to May 2026, she accessed the system 106 times and checked criminal cases related to members of the drug group under investigation. She reviewed arrest warrants, identified accomplices, and passed information to suspects and their associates.

As a result of the data leak, some evidence was lost, assets were not recovered, and one of the suspects managed to escape before arrest. He was later apprehended.

Lawson was charged with 113 counts of unauthorized access to computer systems and one count of illegal use of communication means. She was placed in Orange County jail on June 18, 2026.
