The Verkhovna Rada adopted as a basis a bill that eliminates a legal gap in involving foreigners in military service under contract. This concerns bill No. 15015. On May 27, it was voted for by 286 members of parliament.

The document grants military medical commissions the authority to determine the fitness of such candidates for service and to establish a causal link between injuries received and the performance of combat missions.

As previously reported by Judicial and Legal Newspaper, the parliamentary Committee on National Health, Medical Care, and Medical Insurance supported the government bill No. 15015, which provides for the expansion of the powers of the military medical commissions.

The document proposes granting the MMC the right to conduct military medical examinations of candidates for military service under contract among foreigners and stateless persons.

It should be noted that the issues of mobilization and territorial defense in Ukraine are planned to be addressed by involving a greater number of foreigners. This statement was made by the head of the Ministry of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov.

As explained by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yevhen Moisiuk, the Ministry of Defense is working on involving foreigners in carrying out tasks within the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the defense forces. At the same time, current legislation does not provide for undergoing MMC for such candidates.

"As a rule of law state, we put foreigners in the same conditions as our citizens regarding medical, financial, and other support, but the legislation does not provide for conducting MMC for them. The purpose of the bill is to eliminate this gap," he explained.
