Religious Holiday

Today commemorates the memory of Saint Martyr Leontius. He was born in Greece, in the city of Enos, served in the Roman army as a centurion, and was known for his kindness, courage, and righteous life.

During the persecution of Christians, Leontius refused to worship pagan gods and offer sacrifices to them, for which he was arrested and tortured. Despite this, he remained faithful to his faith. According to tradition, during his torture, he managed to convert some of his torturers and witnesses of his suffering to Christianity.

Name days celebrated on June 18: Danylo, Leontius, Mykhailo, Opanas, Daria, Yefrosyniya, Maria.
