A resident of Lviv region, who has six convictions for theft, robbery, and drug-related crimes, again found himself on the defendant's bench. This was reported by the Khmelnytskyi City District Court of Khmelnytskyi Region.

According to the court, in May 2025, a pensioner from the village of Shpychyntsi, Khmelnytskyi district, received a phone call from a man acting in collusion with the accused. Introducing himself as a doctor from the trauma department, he informed the woman that her daughter had allegedly been involved in a traffic accident and required urgent expensive medical care.

After that, the interlocutor handed the phone to a woman who pretended to be the victim's daughter. She convinced the mother to prepare money and hand it over to a person who was soon to arrive at her house.

Within half an hour, the accused himself arrived at the woman’s house and received from her hands $20,000 USD (865,652 hryvnias according to the NBU exchange rate) "for the daughter's treatment."

The accused did not admit guilt in committing the crime but instead invented his own story.

Despite the accused's stated position, his guilt is proven by numerous pieces of evidence, including witness testimonies, the victim herself, and other written evidence.

Thus, the court considers it proven that the accused committed a criminal offense under part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as the appropriation of another's property by deception (fraud), committed repeatedly, by prior conspiracy of a group of persons, in large amounts, under martial law conditions.

The court found the man guilty of committing a criminal offense under part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment.

An appeal may be filed against the court's verdict (case No. 686/20118/25).
