The Central District Court of Mykolaiv sentenced a 40-year-old city resident accused of committing criminal offenses under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The man had been repeatedly held criminally liable for property crimes before.

Circumstances of the case

The court established that in April 2024, the man climbed over the fence of a property on 1st Ekipazhna Street in Mykolaiv, broke the lock of the front door, and entered the house.

From there, he stole two televisions, a coffee grinder, a blender, and other household electronics worth about 11 thousand hryvnias.

A few months later, while on Arkasivska Street, he saw a parked "ZAZ" car. The man broke the glass of the rear left window and stole construction power tools from the vehicle worth over 11 thousand hryvnias.

During the trial, the accused pleaded guilty, did not dispute the list and value of the stolen items, and assured the court that he condemns his unlawful behavior.

Court decision

Based on the trial results, the court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 6 years of imprisonment.

Additionally, he will be ordered to pay 16,660 hryvnias for expert examination costs and 11,038 hryvnias in compensation for property damage caused to the victim.
