A woman was fined because of the act of her 10-year-old son: what happened in Boryspil
The Boryspil City District Court of Kyiv region considered case No. 359/4199/26 regarding holding the mother of a minor child administratively liable for improper fulfillment of parental duties. The court established that due to inadequate supervision by the mother, her 10-year-old son set fire to a parked car. This was reported by the court.
Case circumstances
By the ruling dated May 8, 2026, the court found the citizen guilty of committing an administrative offense under Part 2 of Article 184 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, which concerns the failure of parents or persons substituting them to fulfill duties regarding child upbringing.
As stated in the administrative offense protocol, on April 7, 2026, around 2:00 PM, the woman, who had already been held administratively liable during the previous year for a violation under Part 1 of Article 184 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, being the mother of a boy born in 2015, improperly fulfilled her duties to provide the necessary conditions for the life and upbringing of the child as defined by Article 12 of the Law of Ukraine "On Child Protection." As a result, the minor set fire to a ZAZ "Tavria" car parked on Serhiy Kaminsky Street near house No. 11 in the city of Boryspil.
During the court hearing, the woman fully admitted her guilt, expressed sincere remorse, and confirmed the circumstances of the offense as stated in the administrative protocol.
Court decision
After examining the evidence contained in the case materials, the court found the citizen guilty and imposed an administrative penalty in the form of a fine of 100 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens, amounting to 1700 UAH. In addition, the woman will pay a court fee of 665 UAH.
