Boy played with matches and set a car on fire — court punished his mother
The Ivano-Frankivsk City Court found a local resident guilty of improper fulfillment of parental duties after her minor son set a car on fire while playing with matches. The woman was fined 850 hryvnias.
Circumstances of the case
According to case materials No. 344/12935/26, the incident occurred during the day on June 29 on Oleksandra Dovzhenka Street in Ivano-Frankivsk. The boy was playing with matches and as a result set a parked car on fire. After the incident, the child left the scene.
Due to improper fulfillment of parental duties regarding child upbringing, law enforcement officers drew up an administrative protocol against the boy’s mother.
During the court hearing, the woman admitted her guilt. The court took into account her financial situation as well as the absence of circumstances that would aggravate responsibility.
What the court decided
The judge of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Court found the mother guilty of evading the fulfillment of legally prescribed duties regarding child upbringing and imposed a fine of 850 hryvnias.
In addition, the boy’s mother must pay 665 hryvnias in court fees. The court decision can be appealed in the manner prescribed by law.
As previously reported by the "Judicial and Legal Newspaper", the Kolomyia City District Court found a local resident guilty of failing to fulfill parental duties. The woman was fined 850 hryvnias because her minor daughter, riding an electric bicycle, hit a 4-year-old child.
The incident occurred on May 24 around 3:00 PM near the Yuri Ruf Lake in Kolomyia. The girl, together with a friend, was riding an electric bicycle in a pedestrian zone, lost control, and hit a small child.
