The Supreme Court upheld the confiscation of the Range Rover used by Ministry of Justice official Vadym Kirienko
The Supreme Court confirmed the legality of seizing an unjustified asset used by Ministry of Justice official Vadym Kirienko in favor of the state.
As reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the Civil Cassation Court in the composition of the Supreme Court upheld the decisions of the courts of first and appellate instances of the High Anti-Corruption Court, which satisfied the SAP's claim recognizing the asset as unjustified and ordering its seizure in favor of the state.
The case concerns a 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Vogue valued at over 3.29 million UAH at the time of purchase. It was established that the vehicle was purchased in 2023 by the official's daughter in the interests of the head of the South-Eastern Interregional Department for the Execution of Criminal Punishments of the Ministry of Justice.
The courts agreed with the prosecution's arguments that the official could effectively and indirectly perform actions with this asset equivalent in substance to the right to dispose of it.
The court agreed with the prosecutor's arguments and denied the cassation appeal.
The Supreme Court's decision is final and not subject to appeal.
