Double murder in front of children: a man in Rivne region sentenced to life imprisonment
The court found a resident of Rivne Region guilty of the intentional murder of two people and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The man was also ordered to pay 3 million UAH in moral damages to the mother of the deceased. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The tragedy occurred in November 2025 in the village of Hlushytsia, Sarny district. According to the prosecutor's office, that day a 29-year-old man came to help his sister with household chores. Later, a man with whom the woman was in a relationship arrived at the house.
During the drinking party, a conflict arose between the men. The accused grabbed a kitchen knife and fatally wounded the 29-year-old victim.
After that, the woman tried to escape from the house, but the attacker caught up with her on the road and stabbed her in the back. The 24-year-old woman died on the spot from the wounds.
At the time of the tragedy, three young children were in the house. A five-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl hid from danger, and the youngest child was not yet one year old.
The 43-year-old man was detained and charged under paragraph 1 of part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional murder of two persons. He was held in custody during the investigation.
The court upheld the prosecution's position, found the man guilty, and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
During the trial, the accused admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. However, he could not explain the motives for his actions, citing severe alcohol intoxication.
