In Ukraine, the issue of low salaries and staff shortages at JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" has been raised.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy and Veterans' Rights Protection emphasized the key importance of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" in ensuring the functioning of the state during wartime and highlighted problems with wage levels and a lack of workers in the sector.

It is noted that the railway remains part of critical and military infrastructure, and its employees daily ensure the evacuation of the population, humanitarian transportation, delivery of critically important cargo, and restoration of damaged infrastructure.

The Committee also drew attention to the company's wage levels. According to the data provided, the average salary at JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" is about 18 thousand hryvnias, while some employees receive from 8 to 12 thousand hryvnias.

Special emphasis was placed on the need to transition to the European PSO model, which provides for state orders for passenger transportation. The state budget for 2026 already allocates 16 billion hryvnias for this direction, but it is proposed to make the financing mechanism permanent and transparent.

Additionally, the necessity of aligning the minimum wage with legislation and strengthening state governance in the railway transport sector was emphasized.
