Zelensky on the letter to Trump and the US Congress: we must act promptly, act effectively
As is known, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent a letter to the American president Donald Trump and the US Congress regarding the critical shortage of air defense systems for Ukraine.
The head of state emphasized that the letter was sent to institutions in Washington on May 26.
“It is rare for leaders of another country to address, by letter, both the President and the Congress of the United States of America simultaneously, but the situation now is such: we must act promptly, act effectively,” he said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that it is important for America to hear Ukraine.
“We understand that much global attention is now on the war in Iran. The war here in Europe must also be stopped – a very bloody war that has been ongoing for the fifth year on a full-scale level. And the sooner we can provide more protection against ballistic missiles, the sooner we can make diplomacy work.
As long as Russia relies on missiles, its interest in diplomacy is insincere. We must correct this. And we can only correct it together with America. Ukraine is grateful to America for all the support. It will be even more grateful for a worthy peace and guaranteed security. All this is possible if there is enough determination,” he added.
