In six training centers of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, an updated standard of basic general military training (BGMT) has been implemented. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The new BGMT program was developed based on the experience of the 151st training center. The changes are intended to complement the existing training system, taking into account the needs for adaptation to the conditions of modern warfare.

The duration of training remains unchanged — recruits undergo training for 51 days. At the same time, the logic of instruction has changed. Training is built on the principle of "from simple to complex," and key skills are practiced daily by cadets until they become automatic.

The Ministry of Defense noted that fire training exercises are now repeated with gradual complication, and tactical training is focused on actions as part of small tactical groups.

The program also increased the volume of tactical pre-hospital training — an additional 12 training hours were introduced thanks to the optimization of outdated exercises.

Special attention was given to countering small drones. In particular, recruits practice shooting down FPV drones using "laser tag" systems with two-way fire simulation.

Another innovation was mentorship. Each platoon is assigned a commander and an instructor to whom cadets can turn with any questions.

In addition, the Land Forces introduced pre-specialty training. In an advanced individual training course, recruits can voluntarily master specific areas that are in demand on the front lines:

  • rifleman-operator;
  • rifleman-rescuer;
  • commander of a small tactical group.

Pre-specialty training will not be available to all recruits, only those who demonstrate high results, motivation to learn, and successfully pass the preliminary selection.
