Dmytro Lubinets: Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers Are Increasingly Becoming Places of Citizens' Unfreedom
The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, stated that territorial recruitment and social support centers are increasingly turning into places of citizens' unfreedom.
“Unfortunately, the authorities respond to human rights violations only when there is public resonance. A vivid example is the visit to the Bila Tserkva Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center. My official recommendations were ignored for two months, and only after media publicity were repair teams sent there the very next day. Due to similar inaction at the Uzhhorod Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center, we were forced to publicly expose the violations, as the police on site refused to enter information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations.
Authorities must respond to official documents immediately, not wait for publicity,” he said.
Lubinets emphasized that monitoring of the premises of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers continues: this year, it is planned to significantly expand visits to these centers across the country.
