The Migration Service of Ternopil Region reported that there are no waves of mass appeals from foreigners, including citizens of India, in Ternopil Region.

They noted that since 2020, there has been a significant decrease in the number of foreigners documented with temporary residence permits in Ternopil Region.

“At the same time, considering the geographical and administrative location of the region, the absence of a state border, remoteness from the central regions of Ukraine, as well as the predominance of the agricultural sector of the economy, Ternopil Region has traditionally been more attractive to foreigners arriving for study than to labor migrants,” the statement says.

From January 1 to May 1, 2026, 14 foreign citizens were documented with temporary residence permits related to employment: Kingdom of Belgium — 2, Republic of India — 3, Republic of Colombia — 1, Republic of Poland — 2, Romania — 1, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland — 2, USA — 1, Kingdom of Thailand — 1, Republic of Turkey — 1.

“There are 44 foreigners registered with the State Migration Service in Ternopil Region who are documented with temporary residence permits related to employment,” the agency stated.

They also added that officials of the State Migration Service in Ternopil Region regularly carry out control measures to ensure compliance with migration legislation requirements. Inspections are conducted both regarding foreigners and Ukrainian citizens acting as host parties to ensure compliance with the norms of Ukraine’s migration legislation. Additionally, from June to the end of October, measures to counter illegal migration under the operation “Migrant” will be conducted.
