Romanian President Discussed Incident with Russian Drone in Galați with Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Romanian President Nicuşor Dan held a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during which the parties discussed the incident involving a Russian drone that struck a multi-story building in the Romanian city of Galați. He reported this on the social network X.
According to Nicuşor Dan, this was the most serious such incident on Romanian territory since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. He emphasized that Russia's aggression is not limited to Ukraine's borders and also poses threats to NATO member countries.
The Romanian President stated that the continuation of Russian attacks and threats to neighboring states is a manifestation of disregard for international law and civilian lives. He stressed the need to end hostilities and start constructive dialogue to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Separately, Nicuşor Dan reported that during the conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the parties agreed to accelerate cooperation between Romania and Ukraine in the joint production of drones that can be deployed promptly.
According to him, Ukraine's combat experience and drone technology are strategically important for the security of the entire eastern flank of NATO.
The Romanian President also confirmed that his country will continue to invest in strengthening the Alliance's eastern flank and supporting Ukraine in exercising its right to self-defense.
