In Kyiv region, a drunk driver fled from the police and got into a fatal accident – a 23-year-old passenger died
In Kyiv Region, a 23-year-old woman died as a result of a road traffic accident. The accident occurred after the driver of a Seat car ignored the patrol officers' demand to stop and tried to flee from law enforcement. This was reported by the patrol police of Kyiv Region.
The accident happened around midnight at the 24th kilometer of the M-06 Kyiv — Chop highway near the exit from the village of Dmytrivka. Patrol officers from the Chaiky village battalion noticed a Seat car whose driver violated traffic rules.
The inspectors issued a stop requirement using special light and sound signals of the service vehicle, but the driver ignored it and continued driving at high speed, creating a danger for other road users.
According to the police, the offender was moving along the M-06 highway towards Zhytomyr, then turned towards Kyiv, and later returned to the village of Dmytrivka. On one of the village streets, the driver lost control, crashed into a fence, after which the car overturned.
Inside the vehicle, besides the driver, there were three passengers — two men and a 23-year-old woman. The woman died at the scene from her injuries. Rescuers extracted her body from the wrecked car.
The driver was hospitalized with injuries of varying severity. An examination showed that he was intoxicated.
The circumstances and causes of the accident are being investigated by detectives within the framework of a pre-trial investigation opened under part 3 of article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
