On the Greek island of Syros, volunteers are offered free accommodation in exchange for caring for cats. This was reported by the publication Bild.

It is noted that the animal protection organization Syroscats announced a call for volunteers for 2027. Program participants are promised free accommodation, breakfast, and coverage of utility expenses on the island of Syros in the Aegean Sea.

In return, volunteers are expected to spend about five hours a day, five days a week caring for local cats.

Applications will open in September. The organization is looking for singles or couples aged 25 and over who are ready to spend at least one month on the island and can work independently.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience as veterinary assistants or caring for stray cats. However, ordinary animal lovers can also apply.

No monetary compensation is provided for the work. After fulfilling their duties caring for the cats, volunteers will be able to spend their free time as tourists.

Syros is considered one of the least crowded Greek islands by tourists. It features beaches, small bays, historic architecture, as well as cafes and restaurants.
